Ischia Thermae was born from the meeting of the island’s volcanic power and a very old thermal tradition. For over a century we have turned thermal water and matured mud into cosmetic treatments that respect the skin and bring out its natural benefits.
The island of Ischia and its thermal springs
Ischia, facing Naples, is an island of volcanic origin. Today the volcano makes itself felt through fumaroles and natural thermal springs: a precious heritage that has made the island a unique wellbeing destination for centuries.
Since antiquity, Greeks and Romans used the island’s thermal water and clay for curative and cosmetic purposes. This is where the heart of thermal cosmetics begins: water rich in mineral salts and trace elements meets the clay of volcanic soil, giving rise to thermal mud.
The result: a natural concentrate known for its purifying, energising and remineralising action.
When thermal water and volcanic clay meet, a unique mud is born: the foundation of our cosmetic tradition.
From antiquity to the present day
The Greeks were the first to recognise and make use of the properties of thermal waters; the Romans later spread the culture of thermal bathing across the whole island. That story runs through the centuries down to us.
Since 1892, Ischia Thermae uses thermal muds to make masks and cosmetics, keeping a thousand-year-old tradition alive with a modern, rigorous approach.
Our products are made with selected natural ingredients, plant extracts and original thermal water, following processes that help preserve the properties of the minerals. We do not test on animals, and our laboratories apply high environmental standards, including careful criteria for packaging.

Ischia Thermae thermal mud matures for 4–5 months: the time it needs to become completely impregnated with thermal water. Only with correct maturation can the mud express its effectiveness fully and deliver visible results on the skin.
